Malapropism: The use of an incorrect word that sounds similar to another. For example, 'It is my provocative' when it should be 'It is my prerogative'.


Homophones: Words that sound the same but have a different meaning. They are also spelt differently. For example, 'I can here the band playing' when it should be 'I can hear the band playing'.



Homonyms: Words with the same pronunciation and spelling, but with a different meaning. For example, the bark on a tree and the bark of a dog.
